The exhibition is promoted by the City of L’Aquila and organized by MAXXIL'Aquila National Museum of 21st Century Arts as part of the programme for L’Aquila as Italian Capital of Culture 2026. The show is a homage to Fabio Mauri on the centenary of his birth. The exhibition traces the twenty years he spent in L’Aquila (1979–1999), teaching the Aesthetics of Experimentation at the Academy of Fine Arts, through a selection of works created during these years, focusing on the relationship between image, ideology and historical memory.
In occasion of the opening, Saturday 26 September, after almost 30 years, there will the reenactment – directed by Giancarlo Gentilucci with the collaboration of Fine Arts Academy L'Aquila – of the historic performance Che cosa è il fascismo (1971), at Istituto Istruzione Superiore “Amedeo D’Aosta” all’Aquila.
