The cursive capital letters ‘Zerbino ariano’ pyrographed in the centre of a coconut-fibre doormat. A precursor to Mauri’s series of large Zerbini in the 2000s, the work was one of the ‘Aryan objects’ displayed at the ‘Arierwiege’ exhibition at the Galleria Sauro Bocchi, Rome (inv. 593, 1023).
