NOTE:

The head of an anatomical model, vertically sectioned into two halves, showing the muscular system on one side and the skeleton and organs on the other. Between these two sections, Mauri inserted a lead sheet, geometrically shaped to follow the skull’s outline, frontally concealing the face with a lead plate on which, at eye level, the artist installed a drill chuck. The work is displayed on a pedestal at the foot of which a white tablet rests, resembling a drawing pad on which a lead outline, very similar to the one placed between the two halves of the head, is accompanied by a handwritten caption in the lower-right-hand corner, ‘variazione’ (variation). The work was part of the ‘Studenti’ exhibition-installation (inv. 3758).
