NOTE:

Emulsion on canvas reproducing the famous photograph depicting revolutionary hero Ernesto Che Guevara (1928–1967) on his deathbed, published in every media outlet the day after his death.
The enlarged image highlights the printing screen, bluntly declaring its media appropriation; spray- painting in the foreground reads ‘IN MORTE’, ‘CHE’, and ‘THE END’ alongside a repetition of the letter G. Two black bands painted along the top and bottom edges cite
Schermo (Screen) frames, leaving the image open on the sides. That year, Mauri also used this photograph in his Camera oscura installation (inv. 14). For greater insight into the concept of ‘schermo’ in Mauri’s work, see the introductory essays.
