The centre of a black iron plate, ‘cleansed’ of its surface oil patina with solvent to make a lighter, rectangular area resembling a screen. The plate has several holes, marks from previous compositions that were later abandoned. The holes are surrounded by circular halos of oil, as if the hole has inflicted a wound on the plate. This work was part of the ‘Picnic o Il buon soldato’ installation (inv. 3204).
