Mixed-media painting within an iron frame open at the sides, as per Mauri’s ‘Interno/Esterno’ works (inv. 3760), protected by Plexiglas grafted onto the lower edge protruding outwards, held at the top by a spacer. A wall lamp emerges from specially tapered glass, illuminating a charcoal drawing in which two bodies, depicted as skeletons with exposed organs, seem to be about to embrace. The drawing is part of the Gli scorticati series (for example, inv. 811), which the artist developed in the 1980s. Around the drawing, the mixed-media painting combines chalk, glue, water and oil with the oxides on the plate, leaving behind evident drips.
