The word ‘Fine’ is etched in the centre of a lead sheet, piercing the backing and offering a glimpse of the surface beyond the work. Borrowed from the world of cinema and comics, ‘Fine’ or ‘The End’ was a leitmotif in the artist’s work. Mauri used it as a sign of a projection that had already occurred, or a story at an end that had left behind a trace.
