On a blank canvas, previously mounted onto a projecting frame whose shape it retains, Mauri drew a hard-to-decipher comic strip, in which only the phrase ‘no no no no no no prima di no’ (no no no no no no before no) stands out in a central balloon. Similar to other works from the same period, the content of the painting is obscured by deliberately obtrusive calligraphy, hermetically synthesised signs, and words and erasures of various kinds that, rather than affirming, deny, thus foregrounding the medium – a comic book or screen – and its language.
