A wall-hung clothes hanger, screwed into the centre of a screen-drawing from 1957 on which the artist’s paletot hangs, partially obscured by a large sheet of white paper folded over it. The round base of a wooden trestle sticks out from under the coat, padded to sugget an anthropomorphic character. A self-portrait of the artist, his clothing and history (Schermo-Disegno, 1957), the work opened the ‘Interno’ exhibition at the Anna D’Ascanio Gallery in Rome, and ‘Interno/Esterno’ at the Galleria Carini in Florence (inv. 3760).
