The tyre of a wheel spilling out of its own inner tube, pulled out and used as a buffer between the tyre and wooden panel, stands in the centre of a white monochrome. Like coeval works in the ‘Interno/Esterno’ exhibition-installation, this work is in an iron frame open at the sides (inv. 3760). Mauri’s use of pneumatic rubber anticipates his later Art Nègre compositions (see, for example, inv. 503).
