On a black-painted wooden easel, as if hung up to dry, a photograph showing the execution of students in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square in 1989. Veiled in aniline purple, the image features a cartouche in the lower left-hand corner with the now faded phrase ‘in ginocchio prima della fine’ (kneeling before the end). Seven black-and-white photographic prints in the same format lie scattered on the ground at the foot of the easel. The work was part of the ‘Studenti’ exhibition- installation (inv. 3758).
