A bathyscope (optical instrument for observing the seabed) in the centre of a monochrome blue canvas, facing the viewer, seemingly inviting him or her to peer beyond the canvas. This work is part of a series of paintings that Mauri made in the late 1980s featuring different types of objects against monochrome backgrounds.
