The drawing was probably intended to cite the John Brown Anti-Klan Committee, which was aligned against the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and other white supremacist fringe groups in the US. Next to ‘Jhon’, Mauri added a dedication to Italian artist Sergio Vacchi (1925–2016), beneath an abstract charcoal drawing.
