A 1976 projection for the ‘Senza’ exhibition at the Galleria Toselli in Milan, at that time located on Via Melzo, overlooking an inner courtyard of houses with characteristic railing balconies, on which Mauri screened Pier Paolo Pasolini’s film The Hawks and the Sparrows. From the balconies, ‘bystanders took part in the action as spectators and image lenders. The film’s matter is languidly superimposed on everyday signs of life.’1 Among the audience in the courtyard, two girls in turn let out loud yells. ‘Warning: the game is not closed, the work of art has no desire to be confined outside man’s true apprehensions.’2
