NOTE:
Motion-picture film wrapped in a spool whose outer perimeter is dyed red. Here Mauri sets up a dialogue between painting and cinema by drawing attention to the ‘tail’ of coloured film, created in the lab through imbibition, to distinguish the beginning and end of the film at a glance (inv. 20–22).
