Screen-drawing characterised by a black frame painted around the edges of a sheet of paper, defining a ‘field for projection’ within which the stylised silhouettes of two film projectors stand out, their beams of light creating interference on two square screen surfaces covered with the same striped geometric pattern, contextually modifying their chromatic values. With just a few simple elements, Mauri visually renders the moment of impact between the projected image and the object-screen, the union of the two elements producing a third entity – for Mauri, a metaphor for the birth of meaning. For greater insight into the concept of ‘schermo’ in his work, see the introductory essays.
