NOTE:

Mixed-media work on paper depicting the interior of a movie theatre on whose screen, behind the words ‘THE END’, we see a figure of a woman and the names of the actresses in Jovanka e le alter (Jovanka and the Others), a film based on the novel of that name by Ugo Pirro, published by Mauri’s uncle, Valentino Bompiani. Presenting a wealth of technical prowess, the work combines tempera, graphite, transfers of printed images using trichloroethylene, collage, ink, charcoal, pastel and synthetic oil enamel. For greater insight into the concept of ‘schermo’ in Mauri’s work, see the introductory essays.
