Screen-drawing characterised by a black band painted around the edges of a sheet of paper, defining a ‘field for projection’ divided into two parts. On the right-hand pane, the frame follows a ‘cloud-like’ pattern reminiscent of Schermo con pubblico (inv. 176), extended, however, to all four sides. This work is characterised by a composite technique combining tempera, graphite, transfers of printed images using trichloroethylene, India ink, charcoal, oil pastel, synthetic oil enamel, marker, and, for the silhouette in the upper right-and corner, intaglio. The images transferred using the decalcomania technique are mainly female figures. Among Mauri’s most typical iconographic elements we find in the centre the word ‘fine’ and an oval shape, laid out here in a composition similar to Analogia (inv. 148). For greater insight into the concept of ‘schermo’ in Mauri’s work, see the introductory essays.
