NOTE:

Schermo (Screen) on canvas, divided horizontally into two halves: in the upper half, a painted disc veiled by semi-transparent gauze forms a slightly outward-projecting schermo; in the lower half, eight black plaques with rounded corners, arranged in two rows by four columns. ‘The record is not placed on the surface but inside, as if the schermo were a container of possible realities […] I had an interest in the new language of contemporary society, the language of the media. I always channelled it back to the screen. I have always had a passion for objects like, for example, 45 rpm records.1 For greater insight into the concept of ‘schermo’ in Mauri’s work, see the introductory essays.
