A broken Schermo (Screen) in light black paper, its centre painted the same colour, on which an insert of blue canvas paper stands out, mounted at the centre of a sheet of tracing paper. Rather than being thrown away, the damaged work was removed from its original frame and placed in a new composition titled Fine dello schermo, as shown in the lower-right-hand corner, below a charcoal line and a piece of white tape. The work pre-dates Mauri’s late-1980s Schermi rotti by several years.
