Collage composed of scraps of paper and a piece of cloth arranged within a black cardboard passe-partout, divided lengthwise into two, enclosed at the sides by two cardboard flaps with rounded corners. Affondamento dell’U.BOOT refers to the story of a German submarine that the Allied troops sunk in the Tyrrhenian Sea in 1945. Black script transferred to paper appears to provide coded information; the title is given in white in German, English, French, Italian and Spanish in the lower-left-hand corner. This work was part of the Disegni collage sul fascismo set, made between 1971 and 1972, characterised by similar compositions and references to historical and private events, as evidenced by the titles: Bombardamento di Bologna, Affondamento dell’U. BOOT, Scomparsa di Pontecorvo da Bologna, Vita di Lulu de la Falaise, Iand Stanza dei conti (inv. 201, 206, 207, 243, 1127, 1132).
