NOTE:

Collage composed of cuttings from a variety of pieces of paper, drawings and prints, framed by two strips of black cardboard and two side strips with rounded corners, resembling spotlight ‘barn doors’. The title Vita di Lulu de la Falaise, referencing a French model and daughter-in-law of the artist Balthus, to whom photographer Elisabetta Catalano, Fabio Mauri’s life companion, dedicated a photo shoot that same year, is written in white pencil on the black band running lengthwise across the composition. This work was part of the Disegni collage sul fascismo set, made between 1971 and 1972, characterised by similar compositions and references to historical and private events, as evidenced by the titles: Bombardamento di Bologna, Affondamento dell’U.BOOT, Scomparsa di Pontecorvo da Bologna, Vita di Lulu de la Falaise, and Stanza dei conti (inv. 201, 206, 207, 243, 1127, 1132).
