Mixed-media collage on panel, enclosed within a shaped iron frame. At the centre of the composition is a drawing on paper, made up of a series of concentric circles representing the disc-world, symbol of the Universe and History, engraved on it. As if pushed by a ‘cosmic’ vortex of centrifugal force, a piece of black wood and three decomposed parts of a green wooden chair are scattered around. This one-of-a-kind work was part of Mauri’s Dramophone group, which featured a performance (inv. 1136) and a series of drawings representing the disc or that cite Francis James Barraud’s painting, which became the logo for a record label, ‘La voce del padrone’ (His Master’s Voice).
1990-1991, Rome, Studio Bocchi, Due Acquerelli, 6 December 1990 – 15 February 1991.
